The job of a gutter, rain gutter or collecting channel is to catch rainwater from the roof in order to prevent damage to the building structure. There are a variety of gutter profiles that can be installed depending on the building application.
The shape sets the tone.
Roof gutters are differentiated into half round and box shapes, as well as trapezoids. The most popular shape is the half round gutter. Your advantages are obvious: it offers a greater cross-sectional area for the same cut of metal, has greater intended water depth, streamlined water drainage and is easier to install. By contrast, the box-shaped gutter becomes soiled more quickly due to the flat base, as remaining water is left standing in the bottom of the gutter. GRÖMO offers coloured aluminium gutters in lengths of 3 and 5 metres, nominal sizes 250 to 400 and in the colours anthracite, brown (Testa di Moro), light grey, white, moss green, brick red and oxide red.

As of December 2016, there have been more stringent runoff coefficients in place for the calculation of gutters and downpipes, and new values for rainfall intensity. DIN EN 12056-3 and DIN 1986-100 outline the essential regulations regarding gutter dimensioning. They require a hydraulic performance record based on the building’s location and its local rainfall intensity so that increasing weather extremes and the heavy precipitation events associated with them can be calculated.
