REACH CUSTOMER INFORMATION
OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 33 OF THE REACH REGULATION
REACH, the European Chemicals Regulation, has had to be implemented in all EU member states since 1st January 2007. The candidate list of SVHC substances1 according to Article 59 (1, 1 0) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 ("REACH") has been published since 28th October 2008 and can be viewed on the ECHA-Website.
Following the SVHC identification procedure, on 27th June 2018 the European Chemicals Agency ECHA has added lead metal (EG-Nr. 231-100-4 I CAS Nr. 7439-92-1) to the REACH candidate list.
The inclusion of a substance on the EU candidate list results in obligations to provide information in the supply chain: If the limit value of 0.1m% of a substance of very high concern (SVHC) in a component product is exceeded, information must be provided in accordance with Art. 33 (1) of the REACH Regulation - irrespective of the m% proportion in the overall product. In addition, sufficient information must be provided to allow recipients of the products to use the product safely.
Some of the products manufactured and distributed by GRÖMO are affected by this obligation to provide information due to the inclusion of lead metal in the REACH candidate list. PRACTICAL TIPS FOR THE SAFE PROCESSING OF PRODUCTS WITH LEAD
- The use of gloves when working with lead ensures a firm grip and protects against injuries and contamination
- It is important to avoid swallowing lead particles, compounds or solutions, so always wash your hands thoroughly before meals and before smoking.
- Inhalation of lead dust and vapours must be avoided. Welding or soldering work should therefore only be done outdoors or in well-ventilated rooms. A mask must be worn if dust and smoke are produced.
- Dirty work clothing must be stored and washed separately from other textiles
- When working with lead, eating and drinking must be prohibited
- A suitable hand cleaner is mandatory
Further information on the safe handling of lead can be found in the Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances TRGS 505.

PBT (persistent, bioaccumulative, toxic)- and vPvB (very persistent, very bioaccumulative)-substances as well as similar hazardous substances, which are determined in individual cases on the basis of scientific criteria.
